About Savannah

Thanks for stopping by! I recently received my B.A. in Media Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. I am incredibly interested in the power of writing & rhetoric as a form of social action, and its fundamental role in creating diverse, rich, literate lives. I have experience writing from multiple perspectives including persuasive, encyclopedic, and technical. I would love to help your child(ren) build key writing skills that will help inform their educational and career goals. I have a passion for open knowledge and work alongside the Conference on College Composition & Communication (CCCC) as their Wikipedian-in-residence to engage experts in improving content on Wikipedia within writing studies' fields. Wikipedia is a key knowledge-broker between academia and the public-sphere, shaping many of our first understandings on a wide array of topics. I have gained valuable research and writing skills aimed towards through my experience working with Wikipedia and wish to share these skills with your child(ren). Prior to my time with the CCCC Wikipedia Initiative, I worked with the American Cultures Center at Cal to assist professors and students navigate both teaching and writing clear, trusted, public-facing information that adheres to Wikipedia's community-driven guidelines. I understand how difficult it can be to develop fundamental writing skills, including structuring the traditional five-paragraph essay and developing strong thesis statements. I aim to walk your child(ren) through best practices for brainstorming, outlining, and finally addressing a strong structure for writing essays. I am flexible in my teaching methods, and want to make the tutoring experience as comfortable as possible by catering my methods specifically to individual skillsets.
