About Adams

I am a highly trained musician, with a BA in Music, Voice, as well as a native German speaker, and studied German alongside music.

I have extensive experience teaching learners at all levels and ages in both music and German. I am well versed in music theory, singing technique, violin technique, german grammar, vocabulary, and conversation.

Additionally, I have studied literature and philosophy, primarily in German, and am happy to use those skills to develop effective reading and comprehnsion strategies.

I love working with learners to refine their skills. It's imperative to meet students' needs holistically, and to allow those needs to lead in the learning process. This results in a colaborative effort which I find extremely gratifying, as both the joy of accomplishment in the student (my first priority) and the tangible improved results of the student's efforts are extremely rewarding and motivating.

I have been teaching since my senior year of highschool, providing German langauge lessons and violin lessons. I have been teaching ever since, and I love the experience.

As a classical musician and student of literature, there is an expectation that I teach the skills which I have worked so hard to refine. My education at the University of New Mexico and St. John's College provided me with a high level of training in music, literature, and German, and I have extensive expreice teaching/tutoring all three.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I first assess their needs regarding the subject matter, and then begin the ongoing process of learning how to best communicate with the student. Approaching a learner in the style that works best for them is consistently the most effective way of encouraging and facilitating learning. No two students are the same; fortunatly, we can work together for your specific needs.

I have worked with everyone from children to high school and university students, professionals, and retired adults. The skills have ranged from absolute beginners at music, music theory, German, reading, etc., to students with advanced skills.
