About Robin
I am an accent specialist and bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist, who has been practicing for 35 years. I have worked in Atlanta with an ESL school providing accent modification classes as well as individual sessions to international students at Georgia State University and employees from Coca-Cola. I also served as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Virginia, training and supervising students on how to work with accent clients (including physicians, professors and students) in the on-campus clinic. I have experience with clients from all over Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America, which has allowed me to work with a variety of accents/dialects. Besides working on pronunciation, I also address intonation/prosody during sessions with clients.
I love meeting people from other countries and learning about their culture as well as sharing information about American culture. I really enjoy helping others to achieve personal or professional goals through improving their pronunciation and intonation, and helping them to become more effective communicators.

I start by speaking with the client to get information about their language history, what they would like to achieve during accent sessions, and how many sessions they would potentially like to have. Then I complete an assessment of pronunciaton and prosody and give recommendations for goals, taking into account the client's needs and preferences. Functional activities (such as mock interviews or presentations) will be included in sessions to help the client prepare for upcoming events where effective communication is vital.
