About Benita

I have been teaching exercise for over 30 years. I work with clients of all ages and with clients during and after physical therapy. I currently work with a lady and her guide dog for the blind.

I also love to teach dance fitness classes and have a dance background in ballet, jazz, tap, flamenco, and ballroom. I make the classes fun and the moves easy to follow.

I am an ACE certified group fitness instructor as well as an ACE certified personal trainer. I have specializations in orthopedic conditions and in medical conditions such as lung and heart issues.

After I stopped participating in competitive ballrooml dancing, I became interested in aerobics and began teaching aerobic classes. With my dance training I was interested in doing personal training because I could help people improve their posture and learn to do the exercises with proper form.

I have a B.A. in dance from Cal State University of Fullerton.

I have current certifications from:

ACE certified group fitness instructor, ACE certified personal trainer, NASM personal trainer, ACE orthopedic specialist, ACE special medical conditions, and have had training in massage and foam rolling.

About the lesson

I have a phone interview and then meet with them to discuss their goals and any medical issues they might have. I then do a brief assessment by doing some basic exercises that would check strength and flexibility. I could check their form during the exercise to check for any imbalances in the muscles.

I have worked with a blind student, students with COPD, heart conditions, knee replacements, hip replacements, rotator cuff issues, and students in very good condition that just want to be advanced to a higher level of fitness.

Check out their certificatons which will provide the student with an overview of their qualifications. Also ask what is their speciality if they have one. For example, some trainers are more skilled with body building or high intensity training. The student could see if that style would match what they are seeking in a trainer.

I worked with a Guide Dogs for the Blind event giving seated massages and giving them some simple stretches to help relieve neck and shoulder tightness.
