About Brandi

Greetings! Welcome to Professional Tutoring Services. My name is Brandi Jacobs and I've been involved with education for over 30 years. My teaching experiences were conducted around and in sped rooms in the elementary education setting for Des Moines Public Schools in Des Moines, Iowa.

My student population consisted of a variety of ethnic backgrounds along with multiple languages spoken and multiple disabilities ranging from mild to severe. Some of my student's disabilities were severe to the point of potentially impacting their ability to learn new material and retain old material. It was my responsibility as their teacher to be able to discover new and different ways of presenting material that, at times, seemed almost impossible to grasp. But I accepted the responsibility as more of a challenge to myself to produce productive and fruitful work for my students to learn from.

But as time went on we found more and more ways to work and communicate with each other. It was during these times I tell my teaching colleagues that I learned as much from the students as they did from me:)

I have a passion for helping students become the best version of themselves. For me the most rewarding part of this job is watching my students grow over time to become these amazing, intelligent, confident, and hard working members of their community. A sense of belonging is something I believe we all as human beings seek. So why not teach in a way that promotes a sense of self worth and confidence while having a little fun along the way?

I look forward to meeting with you and determining whether private tutoring is what the client needs and will be successful with. Like every teaching platform, online services are a much different beast than being in the physical classroom. Its a much different and more demanding type of learning.

Online services require that the student remain focused and motivated on the topic they're learning. There are no ways for a teacher/tutor to be able to physically redirect students so it's incumbent on the student's part to stay vigilant and moving along. It's very easy to get behind in online learning which makes it much more difficult for the student to come from behind.

Again this type of learning is NOT for every student and that may or may not be the case with your student. Let's chat and see if it's something worth pursuing. If not, I would be happy to provide information on different avenues to follow if public school is not an option at this time. I look forward to hearing from you!
