About Donovan

I lead a relaxed environment and am willing to help anybody who wants that extra push. I want to help your child see learning as something fun, not just an obligation. I've been helping friends and family learn for a long time in virtually every scholastic subject, and I will do everything in my power to see to it that your child sees the same improvement.

I enjoy seeing kids get excited about learning once they realize how a little bit of work can open up so many new opportunties for growth! Giving children great habits and priorities by showing how what they learn is relevant to their own lives in a personalized setting has always given me great joy, and I hope you will give me a chance to show this passion I have.

After figuring out that I had a knack for helping others, I thought I'd give formal teaching a try. Some of my colleagues and friends started tutoring and described it as very rewarding. I love meeting new people and helping anyone who has the will to improve to do just that; teaching, for me, is the appropriate medium to enact the positive influence I would like to have on others.

I am an undergraduate student at UC San Diego studying Political Science and Sociology with a minor in Economics. I've ran many study groups and helped friends and acquaintances improve upon their academic skillset in one-on-one settings ever since middle school. I was in the top 1% in my graduating class in High School and I was a respected academic and emotional mentor for my peers.

About the lesson

Each student has different needs, so the first step is to get to know the student. Once we figure out where you are and where you want to be, we make a plan together on the necessary steps to improve and achieve whatever goal you set out for yourself.

The majority of the students I have worked with have been friends and acquaitances in Middle School and High School, but I have worked on a limited basis with younger children with family and family friends. However, I am extremely comfortable working with any age group.

There will be many qualified tutors for you. There will be many cheap options available. Find the tutor that has passion for helping YOU to be the best you can be. No matter the field, passion for teaching should be your first consideration when hiring a tutor.

Recently, my girlfriend and I had our fifth anniversary. This is the first fond recent event that comes to my mind because the feeling of exchanging gifts (I got her 5 chipotle bowls, one for each year together), sharing each other's company, is an extremely difficult feeling to replicate.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should first figure out their ultimate goal. What do you want to get out of this learning process? Where are your particular areas of struggle? What can you do on your own time to better yourself in whatever field you are pursuing? Reflect to your instructor that you have initiative and desire to improve, and they will give you the direction and support you need.
