1. I love learning! I love the feeling of conquering a subject. I love the feeling of discovery and wonderment. I love that there’s always more for me to learn!

2. I love teaching! I love the incessant curiosity of students. I love transforming school into a fun experience. I love witnessing students learn, grow, and thrive!

3. I love creativity! I love reading stories that transport me to a new world. I love writing plays, short stories, novels, and screenplays. I love music—singing and playing piano. I love American Sign Language and the Deaf community. I love feeling my imagination at work!

I've been tutoring and teaching for as long as I can remember. When I was in fourth grade I was an Assistant Drama Teacher. When I was 15 I starting tutoring my neighbors, and (with their recommendation) ended up tutoring many more! Even while I was a full time college student (working toward my BA and MA), I was teaching Drama, English, and History. Now, I work with students of ALL ages. I absolutely love it!

Since I was a kid, I wanted to be a teacher. So much so, that when the opportunity to volunteer at Legacy Christian Academy arose, I took it! I was only 11 years old at the time. For many years, I volunteered and worked in several different capacities: Assistant Drama Teacher, After-School Counselor, Self Defense Instructor, Teacher's Assistant, and Co-Coordinator for the homeschool program that would come on-campus every Friday. When that door of opportunity eventually closed, a window opened! I started working at Trinity Classical Academy as an elementary Drama and Writing teacher. Though I had only worked with elementary ages students, after I received my BA, I decided to challenge myself. I started teaching English and History classes to junior high and high school homeschoolers. It was a success! Again, in an effort to fully mold my skills, I became the Assistant Teacher at Shine Bright Preschool. I learned that every age group and every grade level has something amazing to offer! And now, I run a preschool of my own!

About the lesson

Every student is different. This makes it difficult to have a specific process, complete with strict steps and rules. I believe that learning should be a fun experience. Thus, I like to take the time to get to know a student, their interests, and their learning style. That will help me to tailor an approach to best benefit them!

School isn't easy. Sometimes it can be extremely difficult. However, that doesn't mean that it can't be fun. I strongly believe that every subject can be intriguing if taught in the right way, by the right person, with the right mindset and energy.

I recently opened my own preschool called Hearts and Horizons. This is my first time year running my own school and being my own boss. I have enjoyed creating curriculum, inventing crafts, and watching the preschoolers start to UNDERSTAND.
