About Delisha

This job makes me excited because it does not feel like a job. I love helping anyone that I can reach their full potential. Nothing in life is easy but that does not mean we have to go it alone. I plan to help students achieve their goals, whether it is to become a stronger reader/writer, helping them to not overthink or doubt themselves, to words of encouragement. I have been a teacher's aide since 2016, right out of high school. I have my Educational aide permit, as well as qualifications in schoolage Child Development. I was awarded for having Straight-A's and asked to be placed in AP English my first semester in college. Writing, reading, and helping those who are children of the future are my passions.

I have always been interested in learning new things. Then I reliazed there is a whole generation who will need someone to teach them right from wrong, good from eveil, left from right, while their parents are doing what they can to provide for the child. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, and share the knowledge I have absorbed over the years and seeing them learn new things and apply it is amazing.

I have a high school diploma and some college education. I have been reading and writing since before I was able to from a complete sentence. I have always been always been a passion fro reading, writing, spelling. I was a contestant in the 2011 Scripps National Spelling Bee at the age of 12. I received ackowledgment from my professior and the institute I attended for undergrad for earning Straight-A's in English my first semester. I also, am skilled in Math/Algebra.

About the lesson

I believe younger students learn better when they have a structured lesson they are familiar with, and transparent expecations. My typical process for working with a new (elementary school) student, I like to start with that day's/week's curriculum and I begin to lesson plan exercises, including worksheets, technique building and letter/word combinations.

For older students, I start with an open discussion about their goals and what I can do to help the student reach their goals. I then offer specific techniques that will best help and prepare them to gain and execute the skills they need the most improvement on.

I have worked with students who had trouble hearing, did not read at the same level as their classmates, who were having trouble spelling and pronouncing words, children who worked best 1-on-1, and children who became frustrated if a problem or word tripped them up.

Do not be afraid to ask for help. I am here for you. No question is a stupid question.

Details

My standard pricing system for my lessons are based on the length of the session and the times of day. Three days per week and every other Saturday: Early morning lessons will be $5 more per session. Afternoon sessions are $50 per session.
