Writing is essential -- it's the most valuable skill a student or professional can possess. It's exciting for me to see others realize the power in words and learn to use them effectively to achieve success.
I'm a published writer with a master's degree in writing -- I also hold a teaching credential in English. I've been tutoring students for 20 years and currently teach (virtually) in the classroom.

I begin by listening to the student so that I can respond to their needs. The next step is to work together to reach an end goal -- sometimes it's simply editing and revising a draft; however, other times the task involves simply getting started. In that case, I work to get my student to hone in on a topic or idea in order to make the writing task less daunting. Whatever the requirements, the main strategy I emply is to listen and help where and when it's needed.
