About Brianna

I am a tutor who is passionate about teaching all forms of written and verbal communication. I am currently earning a degree in Journalism from the University of California, Irvine where I am also an Editor for the school newspaper, New University. I have experience taking AP Exams in both AP Literature and AP English Language where I earned a 5 on both exams. I have past experience writing and editing college essays and short statements, and I am a certified Substitute Teacher in the state of California.

I plan to work closely with my students to develop them as writers and communicators. Being able to write effectively and persuasively is pivotal to succeeding in life, and communication is a life-long skill that will put any student ahead of the pack when applying for jobs in the near future.

I believe that a good education can change a student's life. I am extremely passionate about teaching and I strive to make an impact on my students' lives through personal connections and teaching them not only about the subject we are covering but how to work through something difficult and come out of it feeling empowered and confident in their abilities the next time they have to confront a challenging situation.

I am a certified Substitute Teacher in the state of California. Additionally, I am in the process of earning a Journalism degree from the University of California, Irvine where I am also a member of the Campuswide Honor's Collegium, and I work as an Editor for the school newspaper. I received a perfect score on the English section of the ACT, and I received a score of 5 on the AP Literature and AP English Language Exams.

Outside of English, I also received a perfect score on the Science portion of the ACT Exam and received a 5 on the AP Environmental Science, AP Statistics, AP European History, and AP US Government and Politics Exam.

I have past experience tutoring in various afterschool programs and have worked with multiple students in editing and writing essays and personal statements.

About the lesson

I value open communication with my student. We assess together what our strengths and weaknesses are in the particular subject we are tackling and move forward from there, creating an individualized plan in order to get the most out of our tutoring sessions.

I have worked with students of all ages and abilities. I specialize in college-readiness courses and writing pieces such as AP courses, honors English courses, and personal statements for college applications. I also have experience working with students with disabilities, and I am very excited to work with students as young as Preschool and as old as college-level students.

I would advise students to find a tutor they feel comfortable being honest with. Working through difficult topics and concepts may become overwhelming, so it is important that you are working with someone who has a similar style of communication to you and is willing to understand and apply the best teaching methods to bring you the best results in your work.
