About Victoria

Hi! My name is Victoria, my students call me Ms. Fry. I'm a teacher and literacy tutor based in New York. I have seven years of teaching experience and a Master's of Arts in Teaching degree. I've taught 5th grade, 3rd grade, and 2nd grade, as well as a background in art education. While working as a classroom teacher, I designed and instructed lessons in reading, writing, math, and social students. As a teacher with a backround in fine arts, I weave creativity into all my lessons, and enjoy finding fun ways for my students to learn! At the moment I teach art at an elementary school, and also tutor children in literacy to help strengthen fluency and reading comprehension. Teaching across multiple grade levels has enabled me to gain a solid understanding of the skills children need to develop in order to succeed in elementary school and beyond.

As an educator, I believe that differentiation is key to ensuring the success of each individual student. My child-centered approach to learning allows students to build skills across all subject areas and learn at their own pace, while ensuring they meet grade-level benchmarks. I set goals for every student and work with them closely throughout the school year to monitor their growth. My objective is for students to graduate from my class with the tools, knowledge and confidence to become successful life-long learners.

When I'm not in the classroom, my favorite hobbies are painting and drawing! I also enjoy visiting museums as I'm passionate about art history. I frequently hike and spend time in nature as well.

I really enjoy working with students and seeing their growth and progress over time. It's so rewarding to me as an educator!

I've served as a multi-subject classroom teacher and reading tutor for four years. I've taught 5th grade, 3rd grade, and 2nd grade. This has enabled me to gain a deep understanding of the skills students need to acquire in language arts to develop a strong foundation as they move into higher grades.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I assess their skills in reading, writing, fluency, or comprehension to gain an understanding of their strengths and where I can help them moving forward. Then, I set specific, achievable goals for the individual child and design lessons that enable me to assist them in meeting those benchmarks. I create lessons that are fun, exciting, and that allow children to enjoy the process while also working hard to meet their goals!
