About Roman
The best part of tutoring others is the excitement I feel when the students make a connection to an element of writing they had not previously understood. I have been a writer for over a decade and I find passion in sharing my experiences and knowledge with others. I am a lifelong learner! I am currently learning new languages as I have mastered the English language. I hope to someday be proficient enough in other languages to someday work as a translator and tutor students interested in learning new languages.
Throughout my time in grade school and college my peers would come to me for editing, assistance, and reviews. I am the go-to writing expert amongst my peers, some of whom come from various ethnic backgrounds.
I have been writing music, poems, short stories, essays, and even professional emails and business plans for about seventeen years. I have attended college courses for AP English, Professional Writing and Communication, and Professional Presentations. I have also attended college courses for Leadership and Organizational Behavior, Psychology, and several Time Management Workshops.

I prefer to get to know my new students on a more personal level, helping them to feel more open about where they feel they struggle the most. I then move forward towards reading previous materials they have written. This helps me to understand their writing style, the areas where they can improve, and the areas where they are already proficient.
I have worked with students from the ages of 8-35. Some of my students have come from Honduras, Iceland, Peru, Puerto Rico, and recently from Italy.
I would urge students looking for an English tutor to know what it is they are expecting from the experience. Some students think that the tutor will write the essay for them. That is never the case! Make sure you are serious about improving your writing abilities.
I have recently started working with a student from Italy. I feel accomplished when her face lights up because she has finally understood a new phrase or sentence that she couldn't quite understand before. The more words and phrases she learns the more confident she becomes in her own abilities to speak, read, and write in English. There are few feelings that compare to watching my students grow as they learn.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
When talking to teachers about your needs you should consider what challenges and struggles you currently face. Do you have a learning disability? Do you have a strong vocabulary but poor grammar? Will a tutor be beneficial to you or are you capable of making the improvements on your own?
