I was a Noncommissioned Officer in the Army for five years of my 10 year career. A major role for NCO's is teaching and training subordinates in a variety of topics.
At TAMU Writing Center, I was trained specifically to tutor for an academic setting.
I have a BA in English from Texas A&M University with a concentration in Creative Writing.
I have a J.D. from Texas A&M School of Law, with extensive focus on research and writing.

I have students (and parents for HS and below) complete a brief questionairre, then discuss their concerns, weaknesses and expectations during the first 30 minute meeting.
From that, I will develop a personalized plan including recommended frequency, length of sessions and costs.
I have taught students from every conceiveable socioeconomic and national background, as well as every collegiate field of study available at a Tier 1 research university.
I have also worked with students with a variety of learning challenges, including autism and dyslexia.
Passion for writing and language arts is just as important as educational background. Have a conversation with your proposed tutor; make sure they are not just going to teach you "rules" and "strategies," because writing is an art, not a science.
