About Casey

I worked for 6 years running an After School Program where I tutored up to 175 students. We worked on engineering, math, science, writing, and social studies. I specialize in writing and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math). I am certified to teach STEAM from the people behind the San Jose Tech Museum, the Bower's Institute. I can't wait to work with you all!

I come from a family of teachers and have taught kids my entire life. Professionally, I started with skateboarding lessons, which I still do on the side till this day, but most of my experience comes from my time as a Site Director for Power School through the YMCA of Silicon Valley.

I spent 6 years running an after school program at an elementary school. During that time, I was certified to teach STEAM to both students and educators, and I won various awards for implementing STEAM into schools both during the day and after school. I have also attended and led trainings on ways to better implement tutoring for students of all types.

About the lesson

I take time to get to know my students and make sure we have a great working relationship so that I can always provide the best and most personalized experience for them.

I worked mostly with families that were low-income, and I worked with students with a range of disabilities and special cases. I mostly work with K-8th grade.

Make sure to find someone that is knowledgeable, someone you get along with, and someone you can communicate well with. It's always important to remember too, smart people ask for help so don't feel negatively about getting a tutor. We are here to help, and want you to succeed!

Despite the turmoil of recent years, I was able to successfully implement and adapt my entire after school program into an online-only support system that still taught students to be good students, but more importantly, kept teaching them how to be good people.
