I began my undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia in Fall 2017. I finished up in August 2020 with my Bachelor’s of Science in Education, majoring in Kinesiology. I then began an accelerated track studying Athletic Training.

I completed my Master’s of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) in May 2022. I was all set to go to Physical Therapy school in Delaware beginning in June 2022, but with a quick turn of events my plans were flipped upside down – I made the difficult decision to defer my spot in the program until next due to medical circumstances (hip surgery to correct a chronic hamstring and labrum tear).

Long before I even knew I’d need surgery and had considered deferring my spot in the DPT program, I came up with the idea to start a paper-editing business. I came up with the idea one night as I was editing my roommate’s literature review this spring and simultaneously helping a professor at UVA grade papers.

Although not everyone has a love and passion for writing and the English language like I do, I have learned that writing is an invaluable skill to have in the “real world.” I feel that I have been fortunate to have a strong background in the English language as well as an intrinsic drive in this subject, but I recognize not everyone has the same academic background or internal appreciation for it. So, I am hoping to spread my appreciation to others!

My goal isn’t just to help you reach a goal/milestone in the short-term (getting a job... earning a good grade on your paper... etc.), but to truly set you up for success in the long-term. Specifically, what I mean by this is educating you on the mechanics of English language and writing. Rather than making edits on your work without any explanation, I will explain in detail why I stand behind those edits; I'll make every effort to collaborate with you to improve your writing skills.

My emphasis in this business is the fact that your paper is YOUR voice, not mine! (So, I will not write your paper for you!) I will help you make your work be the best it can be, and my goal for clients is not solely an “A” or winning of a scholarship or getting a job offer, but rather, long-term retention of writing and language skills. For example, I will take the time to walk you through a cover letter for a position you’re applying to; I will go in-depth in explanation on details of how a paragraph’s format could improve. While adjusting those details may be a pain in the short-term, my goal is for clients to learn better writing skills for future assignments!

You may be wondering what qualifications I have for this kind of thing. Fair question! Here's some background on my experience with English:

From an early age, I have enjoyed writing. In high school, I took 2 years of Honors English followed by 2 years of Advanced Placement (AP) courses: AP English Language and AP English Literature. I also took AP US History and AP US Government. I scored 5s on all of these AP exams.

In my undergraduate studies at UVA, I took 3 English courses and earned A’s in each. (See “My Work” section for examples of papers I have written)

This spring (2022), I edited papers for my neuroscience professor at the University of Virginia.

From August 2021 to May 2022, I wrote and presented a critical appraisal (“CAT” paper) for my scholarly project in my Master’s program.

On my Graduate Record Exam (GRE), I scored a 159 in verbal reasoning and a 5.0/6.0 on the analytical writing portion.

Experience and qualifications aside, I enjoy this stuff! I am detail-oriented and driven. I give every endeavor my full effort. I often edit friends’ and family members’ papers. For instance, I edited my roommate’s literature review this spring (interestingly, she indicated that a lot of the feedback I provided overlapped with the professor she was collaborating with).
