About MARY
I give personalized attention to the structure, grammar and content of your essays. If there's some difficulties with understanding some of the nuances of a text, we can discuss it and make a plan together on what themes emerge from the text.
As a certified public NYC English teacher for over 15 years, I have helped students develop their college application essays, edit their portfolio pieces, and made modifications for students with special needs and for those who are new to speaking English.

1. Set a goal.
2. Make a time management plan to prioritize what aspects of the work need the most attention.
3. Address top 3 areas of concerns and strategies to approach them. Provide resources as needed. Discuss specifics of a paper either orally on Zoom or through notes on Google Docs.
4. Check work and discuss the success or changes that continue to be needed.
5. Discuss upcoming assignments and how we can prepare prior to the next session. (i.e. books needed, assignment, rubric, curriculum, top 3 concerns about the next assignment).
