About Nicholas

I am dedicated to assisting and guiding students to strengthen their understanding and finding the underlying problems causing confusing or lack of understanding. Using several different techniques and methods, I make the experience fun and exciting, motivating students to make the effort to understand and participate.

I believe that for a student to learn something, it has to be interesting to them. If it is not interesting, then it is the teacher's job to make it interesting and fun. If a teacher cannot do that, then they are not doing their job. I like to have interactions while tutoring. I try not to just give lectures because most people do not absorb information in that form.

Teaching is my passion! I love to see my students develop and grow as the learn. It brings joy to my life to know that I have participated in helping someone to learn. I have much experience, both online and off, helping and guiding people to learn in the best way possible.

I have always enjoyed learning. I had taught in several different occations unofficially in various subjects, but never thought of it as a career. In college, I tried several different areas and enjoyed many, but felt that I was lacking something in my life. After graduating, I got a job in what I thought I wanted to do, but quickly found that it was not for me. A friend told me of a teaching position at a private school and so I tried it out. I instantly fell in love with it and have been teaching ever since.

I graduated from Brigham Young University in Humanities and Majored in Portuguese, with a minor in Psychology.

I have extensive experience with languages and helping people to develop and perfect their language skills. I have worked at several ESL schools and taught at public and private schools.

About the lesson

I feel it is important to get to know the student and their learning style before truly getting into the content. Asking questions about their likes and dislikes, as well as identifying where they struggle most.

I have worked with students as young as 4 years old and as old as 60. I have taught beginners with no experience and advanced students with lots of experience. I have helped train teachers as well. I have had students who struggle deeply with certain areas, and also students who quickly grasp every concept easily.

I recommend looking at their experience and teaching style. It is important that the teaching style match your learning style. This will result in stronger comprehension and learning.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about what they expect from a teacher and what they to know after being taught. Think about what is actually causing the struggles, and not just what is not understood. Being able to fix the underlying problems usually automatically fix any superficial ones.
