Award-winning dance educator with several decades of experience in dance as a medium for sharing and healing.

As a mentor and coach, I help artists transition into academia by assisting them in the creation of classroom resources( syllabi, lesson plans, curriculum, etc)

I believe that through teaching I offer an alternative. In my classes, students combat what might otherwise be a sedentary lifestyle while creating healthier neurological pathways and learning the importance of comradery.

I believe my work helps people find themselves and their voice. My work allows me to bear witness as people love themselves more and find ways to better articulate their dreams fears and desires.

When I initially began to study dances of the diaspora, I noticed classes not only offered challenging techniques but a culture that openly welcomed others. During my learning experiences, I admired the instructor’s ability to teach strong foundation movement while nurturing and encouraging individuality. Knowledge is worthless if not shared and so I share my knowledge with others

I began teaching because my family could no longer afford dance classes for my sister and I. The Director of the company offered an exchange where I assisted with instruction of several classes and it would cover tuition for my sister and me, by age 13 I was teaching my own classes.

I have more than 20 years of training in West African dance techniques, more than 10 years of training in movement of the African diaspora, a B.A. in Dance with K-12 teaching certificate, and MFA in Dance

Yes, I have a scale for lesson but it is based on the student's desired outcome. Creating a dance to be performed is different than working dancing for health or to build of self-esteem for social events.
