About Staci

I have a BA in Dance from BYU and have been teaching for the past 9 years. I am constantly improving and I absolutely love watching my students, young or young at heart, try new things and gain more skills and confidence. I've done musical theater, cheer, mascot/character work (I used to work for Disney), parades, Ballroom/Latin team and individual performances, as well as the always fabulous ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and hip hop. I've taught in California and here in Utah at 3 different studios and several elementary schools (elementary ballroom program). I'd love to work with you!

Teaching dance has been a dream of mine since I was young, but the first official experience teaching was while in my last year at BYU. My academic counselor recommended that I help with the Dansinskule Education Foundation's elementary ballroom program as an internship/senior project. I was able to be mentored by the program's founder and caught the teaching and choreography "bug"

I started dancing in studios (ballet, tap, and jazz) early in life, moved on to cheer and musical theater, worked as an intern with Walt Disney World Entertainment in Florida, then pursued a degree in Dance from BYU with a ballroom emphasis. I've continued learning from top dance experts at conventions, workshops, and trainings, as well as learning from my 9 years of teaching experience. I have gained great knowledge from my fellow teachers and studio owners as well.

About the lesson

I ask lots of questions to get a sense of their experience/level as well as their goals and what they hope to gain in their lessons. We'll warm up, I'll have them do some steps or combinations based on their skill level to get a sense of how they move and what can be improved. Then I tailor the lesson based on what what the students' goals are.

All types! I've taught students from just 18 months old to those in their 70's and 80's, and everything in between. I've taught young children and preteens the most, but I've also worked with teenagers and adults. I've worked mostly with beginner/intermediate dancers, but I've also had the privilege of working with more advanced dancers.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Get clear on your goals and what you're really wanting to accomplish, but also what your concerns are so the teacher can really tailor the class to you individually. Understand your strengths and weaknesses so the teacher can help with those as well.
