About Bonita
I teach beginners through high level competitors and professional dancers. With 30 years of teaching experience, ten years on the Arthur Murray International Dance Board and experience as the northeast dance director for Arthur Murray International I enjoy and specialize in personalized training to the level of the student as well as training teachers.
Competitively I have been a United States Finalist three times in two styles and semi finalist in two others, the vice champion in American smooth and bronze medalist in rhythm.
I toured as a featured dancer with Dancing Nights and have performed with the Chicago symphony, Cincinnati Pops, and have choreographed for PBS Championship Ballroom Dancing.
I am a National judge, member of the National Council of America and North American Dance Teachers Association.
I teach through Families Forward in the Cincinnati Public Schools, teach private lessons in Cincinnati, travel to schools to coach and travel for judging.
Since its inception I have presented local celebrities for the Cincinnati Arts Council's Dancing For the Stars

Teaching dance is a great profession and a wonderful avenue for meeting people and helping them enrich their lives through a fun and healthful activity. Dancing brings couples together like nothing else and is an easy ice breaker for singles or couples to meet and socialize with others.
I subbed for my ballet teacher as a teen and taught master classes in college in modern and ballet. I started ballroom dancing in training class for Arthur Murray studios when I was 19, then did my early advanced training in New York.

We begin with an introduction to the most popular social dances or the dance the student may already know that they want to learn. For wedding couples I will work with their music and I can help them by chosing from a list of songs they are considering. We can chose the most danceable from their favorites.

Find out how much your lessons will cost before booking your appointment. Talk with your potential teacher to get a feeling for how they will proceed with your lessons and to feel you have made their aquaintance ahead of time.
The Annual Special Ballroom Festival is a wonderful event which I have judged since its inception four years ago. It is a special event for adults and younger with disabilities, mostly down syndrome. My husband has volunteered to chaparone several of the lady dancers as well.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Do you know what you want to learn or will you follow your teachers guidelines? Will you be able to keep a fairly regular schedule? Private lessons are the only way if your schedule varies as appointments will be made on your availability. Not all teachers have time to teach group lessons but some do. Some beginners are uncomfortable in group lessons as they may need more personalized teaching. Private lessons will be more expensive but you will receive your teachers total attention and you will dance with your teacher.

Students pay by the lesson. I do not have contracts. Occasionally a student may request to prepay for 5 or 10 lessons but normally pay as they take their lessons. Cash or check. I don't take credit cards.
