About Elizabeth
I have been writing short stories, screenplays, and long-form fiction ever since I could hold a pencil! Cheesy, yes, but completely true. I have won several awards for my writing and have been a professional copyeditor and content editor (editing grammar and story/structure) for years.
I am studying creative writing and film production at Chapman University, one of the top film schools in the U.S., so I have taken many intensive courses in storytelling. I adore creative writing and think it is akin to "playing pretend"; you get to step into a world of your own creation and dictate what happens.
I am patient and experienced in tutoring, editing, and story workshopping. I promote unadulterated creativity and want to help others establish their own storytelling skills so they can "play pretend" on the page with confidence!
I love helping students build their confidence and explore their writing by workshopping existing pieces and creating new ones. The best way to get better at writing is to practice writing! It is enriching for me to instill passion for the thing I'm most passionate about in the students I work with.
I began tutoring students in essay writing about five years ago. When I started taking upper-level creative writing courses and workshopping my peers' pieces, I realized my passion for tutoring in this area and decided to shift my focus to creative writing!
I have been a professional content and copyeditor for years. I am studying creative writing and film production at Chapman University (one of the top film schools in the U.S.!), where I take intensive storytelling courses.

When working with a new creative writing student, I typically take the first session to dig into what they want to improve, what they already feel confident about, what type of writing they're interested in, etc. From there, I treat our sessions as workshops. They come with work that they want to develop, I assign prompts, and we try different writing exercises. With those pieces, we dive into what the student likes and dislikes about their own writing—what pops, which areas are good, which areas could use some deeper thinking.
I have worked with high school, college, and adult students, and I am more than willing to work with younger students in the future!
Discover what it is that you want to learn. Genre writing? Story structure? Characterization? How to write without second-guessing yourself in the process? Then talk with the potential tutor about their strengths to see if they're a good fit!
