About Hannah

I have a Bachelors in Science from University of Idaho in Biochemistry and a minor in Chemistry. I tutored for the athletic department at UI as a student, and am currenly awaiting entry to graduate school to complete my Master's in Teaching for high school chemistry and biology. I have worked in several biology and chemistry labs and have applied my content knowdlge in varying fields from sports to natural resource management. This experience allowing me to draw real world examples to sometimes abstract concepts.

I just finished studying for and passing my teaching content exams, so I am very up-to-date on both AP Chemistry and AP Biology concepts and topics.

I am very passionate about the subjects I teach and enjoy sharing my interst with others and helping them get that ah-ha! moment. At first, I tutored my team mates and friends for free and found that tutoring challenged me to think about these subjects in new and challenging ways and improved my understanding of the subject.

I worked as a athletic department tutor for University of Idaho for a year in General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, General Biology, and Biochemisty. I graduation from University of Idaho with a B.S. in Biochemistry and a minor in Chemistry with a 3.93 GPA.

I also work as a Track & Field and Cross Country coach at the high school level and work in experiential education through WSU's Outdoor Recreation Center teaching outdoor skills and leading backcountry trips. These jobs have a large teaching/education component.

About the lesson

I like to gain some insight into what the student already knows, what their goals are, and what they believe they need to master in order to get there. I like to see them work through problems or answer questions to see their process so I can identiy areas of improvement. Then we make a roadmap together of what content we'll cover and what to focus on in preparation for exams.

As a tutor, I've worked with college level student athletes. As a coach I work with high school students and in my work in experiential education I work with community members of all ages.
