About Brad

Baseball has been in my life since I was old enough to pick up the ball. I have played baseball throughout my life as a child and adult, sharing the field with many future and former players who went on to play professional baseball. My playing career spans youth, middle school, high school, college, and adult amateur baseball.

I have coached players in the Central Illinois area from the age 4 up through players in their 30's. I have coached youth, middle school, high school, legion, and adult amateur baseball and have learned something about the game at each stop.

If you or someone you know is looking to find ways to improve performance on the mound, in the field, or at the plate, I can help identify and diagnose obstacles in the way of improved performance.

I love the game of baseball, but I truly enjoy the mental game that takes place in every aspect of the game on the field. More than other games, baseball players have to learn how to mentally prepare for each pitch. Learning how to think the game and managing emotions is just as important as solid fundementals. In fact, it may even be monre important.

I have played and coached baseball at the high school, collegiate, and semi-professional (adult amateur) level. I have been instructed by college coaches and former professionals during my playing career.

As a coach I have worked with players at all levels and abilities from tee-ball to adult amateur baseball. I have found ways to motivate and work with players of all ages.

I am also a licensed high school baseball official for the IHSA. My approach combines the skills I have learned and developed as a player with my experience as a coach and an umpire to help explain not only how to improve skills, but also how to think the game.

About the lesson

When I work with a player for the first time, I want to get a sense of what their goals are and also what they think is getting in the way of acheiving them. From there, I can begin to develop a plan to help improve performance. This may include fundemental skill development and drills, situational practice and simulation, or combining mental skills such as decision-making, situational awareness, and perseverance with on-the-field drills.

I believe that if a player can see what it is they need to work on and receive some feedback, they can take what they have learned and apply it to the game.
