About Jed

I personalize every lesson to the individual. What works for some does not work for others. I have 20 years experience in this and understand no two players are identical.

I love watching the excitement of the player when what he has been working on comes out in the games and how proud of himself he feels.

I was brought in by a both of the owners of the Southeast Texas Baseball Academy.
I played High School Ball with one of the owners.
I worked out with the the other owner while he was playing with the Pirates and I was at Lamar.
They gave me a shot once I done at Lamar

I played until I was 22 including 2 years at Alvin Community College and 2 years at Lamar University.
Once done at Lamar was one of first four instructors at The Southeast Texas Baseball Academy in Beaumont when it opened in 2000.
I have been an instructor since.

About the lesson

Every first lesson is different depending on players age/ ability/ skill set/. For the older players it could be a very specific issue. For younger players it could be starting from scratch.
First lesson is generally evaluating what the player knows and getting feel for where he is athletically. This normally will take about half the lesson. If there is a glaring problem that cannot be fixed by starting fix problem entirely we could start there.
Most times problems are fixed starting from ground up.
This is a process, there are no quick fixes.
Applying a band aid only cover the problem doesn't fix it.

Through the 20 years I've worked with players as young as 6 and just getting started to players who are 26-30 playing pro ball. And everywhere in between.

Résumé isn't everything. Connection between player and coach is key. Find someone who has genuine interest in your player and wants to see them succeed.

National signing Day just passed and I got to see the faces of players And Families I've had the pleasure to work with as they sign their scholarships.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
For older players, be realistic about the player you are. Not who someone tells you you should be. Ask questions that that will benefit you and your skill set.

For Younger Players, be honest with yourself about what you are struggling with. You are not the only player that has had this problem.

For Parents, where you think players are struggling is not always what they are feeling or where they believe they are struggling. Let the player and instructor plot the course.
