About Lucy

As an experienced tutor I know that personalised support is vital, and this is what I provide to my tutees. Over the last few years I have been tutoring a range of people both within this site and beyond. These include A-level and degree-level Psychology students, GCSE Science students, primary school children, and young people with Special Educational Needs. I have supported students by building upon their revision, report-writing, essay-writing and exam techniques.

WHY I ENJOY TUTORING

The aspect I enjoy the most about being a tutor is building my students’ confidence and providing them with study skills that benefit them in every subject. As a graduate with a First-Class Honours BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Research Methods in Psychology with Distinction, I have an in-depth understanding of learning, memory, motivation and wellbeing which enhances the efficacy of my tutoring. I enjoy helping others and I strive to help each client as much as possible. I also have experience as a full-time tutor within a school setting. This involved working as an Applied Behaviour Analysis tutor for children with learning disabilities where I had the opportunity to apply the knowledge obtained in my BSc.

SUMMARY

Throughout the experiences where I have supported people I have learnt that the best approach to take in helping is a personalised one. Therefore, I would provide tutoring sessions suited to your needs and aim to provide specifically what you want out of them. I am always excited to share with each tutee the knowledge I have obtained over the last few years. Moreover, I can help my tutees to master the fundamental academic skill of learning based upon current psychological findings and theories.

ABOUT ME

I have just gained an MSc in Research Methods in Psychology with Distinction from University College London (2nd in the world for Psychology according to THE World University Rankings). Modules included Research Methods, Statistics, Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Biological Psychology, Social Psychology, Qualitative Methods, and Computer Programming. I am due to start a PhD in Psychology at King’s College London in June. Outside of academia, I am typically on my yoga mat or in the kitchen trying out healthy recipes!
