About Barry

I have a B.A. form Columbia College. I earned a degree in Performance/Directing. While at Columbia College I studied under many of the Steppenwolf Ensemble.

I will also add I have an M.A. in Education/ Educational leadership from Concordia University. I am also endorced in Fine Arts. I have been a teacher for CPS for 28 years. I have been doing theatre onstage and directing for the past 30+ years.

During the day I am an Elementary School Teacher. Which means I am constantly performing. I enjoy working with a wide range of ages. I have worked with children, teens and adults.

I love exploring and discovering things with actors as we work through dialogue and monologues. I enjoy watching them grow and succeed! I have a good understanding of the needs of a young actor as I am an actor myself. I will help each student achieve the goals they need and push them beyond to discover new things. It is all about them and the discovery.

I have been taching Elementary School for 28 years. I have been doing theatre for longer. I have coached children of Friends for auditions and I have also worked/coached some adults. It's something I enjoy doing and watching the growth of each individual.

I have a B.A. in Theatre/directing from Columbia College in Chicago. While at Columbia I studied under the late Sheldon Patinkin and some of the Steppenwolf Theatre Ensemble.

I also hold an M.A. in Education and Educational Leadership. I have been a teacher for CPS for the past 28 years. I have been involved woth theatre for the past 30+ years and have worked with children, teens and adults. I am also a performer/director /set designer and scenic artist.

I have worked with many theatre companies in the Chicago and Suburban areas.

About the lesson

Understanding the needs of the client. What type of work are they looking for. how can I help them achieve the goal they are looking for. How can I stretch them beyond thier needs. Making them feel that they have made a huge growth and are willing to give thier all. My goal is to help them succeed and have fun in the process.

Elsmentary, High School, College and Adults

Always look at experience and what they have to offer. make sure you are getting your monies worth. make sure it is time filled with work and not with chatter. Always be orofessional with your work and time. This goes for both teacher and student.

Directing a production of Mamma Mia at the Woodstock Opera House. Sold out houses.
