About John

Get that part you want to play! I love the craft & process of acting. I studied at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, NYC. I am a director/composer/singer & performer. I also write shows for and with young people who love acting and I have taught classes and individual coaching sessions. Technique, respect and the joy of acting is my work. I have performed for WLIW 21 PBS, the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, and the Westchester Broadway Theatre to name a few. Write or Give me a call. The challenge of using what I know to ‘become’ a character in a play. I love to entertain people. To take the audience on a journey. To a happy place where they get SO involved in where i’ve Taken them, they forget about everything else. It’s an act, an art, a skill. The Art of Acting. So amazing to share that magical transformation with an audience.

After studing acting at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, NYC and performing for years, working with a number of amazing directors, I had the opportunity yo write plays. And also asked to direct as well. The process of directing and communicating this way has informed my method of teaching actors.

I studied acting at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, The Actors Institute, both in NYC. I also studied music theory at the Manhattan Schiol if Music, as well as studying voice w Paul Schoeffler (Broadway). My music has been recognized by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) and have directed and produced my own show with Equity performers. I also wrote and directed short plays for young actors at The Harvey School. Thank you, John Fogarty

About the lesson

At first, I have an initial conversation on their present experience, any training, shows the have done, and their aspirations in the performing arts. While listening and learning I get a lot of information regarding their ability to present themselves and use their instrument. Based on that I will ask them if they have any work, a monologue, a song, etc. And ask them to ‘experiment with Suffern thinking regarding what they showed me. The first steps in taking direction to explore something that is already familiar to them and explore and think a different way of delivering the material etc.

I've worked wisional actors of all ages.th a broad range of actors. From young pepole, usually ages 7-8 and up to adult Equity professionals. Being able to access and find the right way to communicate is a talent and a skill to try to impwith every stdent I take on.rove
