STEP 1: Assessment
I ask the student to prepare a monologue (classical or contemporary) 2 -3 mins
- I want to gauge the students' current abilities so that I can help the student improve from where they are.
Step 2: Foundational Skills/Knowledge
Depending on their skill level I will review or teach the basics of acting, voice, and movement.
Step 3: Drills
It's important to keep your foundation strong. So I will teach you basic drills to keep your foundational skillset very strong.
Step 4: Application
Once we learn the drill we can begin applying these skills to text.
Step 5: Special Skills
I have knowledge of many movement practices, dialects, and languages. I also know many people with a variety of skillsets. If there is a specific skill you want to learn we can take time to focus on that too.
------
I deal with each student on a CASE BY CASE basis. which is why the assessment is very important.
I have worked with a variety of types of kids. Ages (5 - 18 yrs); from both privileged and underserved communities.
Find a teacher who believes in your gifts on both your good and bad days.
