About Tim

I was reading for a casting director with about twenty other students trying to show off our talent. Afterwards I asked the casting director if we could do some improv. He said " I don't know how to teach that you do it." Ive been doing it ever since. I started with teaching improv then moved on from there, to commercials, how to audition, how to break down scenes plus the business side of acting and it's terminology. If an actor can get by me they will work in this business. Period.

Tim Colceri has been an actor since 1982. He's been in over fifty films, most notably Full Metal Jacket. He has starred in Super Bowl commercials as well as many national commercials. He's directed three feature films, written two screenplays, wrote produced and shot many short films. He's also been a casting director, he even did voices for cartoons. He's been teaching for over thirty years in Hollywood and the last ten years mostly kids in Las Vegas. Two of his kids are regulars on TV. During the pandemic, he got a DX80 which enables him to teach two or more people who are in completely different locations at the same time. If you want a private coach who knows what it takes to make it in film industry. This is the guy. You won't find anyone better. He books up quickly so there might be a waiting list. Be patient to get in , he's worth the wait.

About the lesson

I asked them basic questions just to get to know them and then I asked him to do some drills to see where the talented is. I explain how production works. Then I give them a monologue to see how they work with memorization. Next commercials then scene break down and blocking.

I've worked with four year olds up to eighty. I found that at six, is really the earliest I want to start with. Actors are of all ages so that's what I teach.

Find a teacher who loves what they do and is honest with their students. Not everyone is meant to be an actor. I ounce said to the great director Stanley Kubrick " this is hard" and he said " Tim, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it."

Recently I played as a celebrity in the ante for autism poker tournament and I found that to be a wonderful cause.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
This is a very competitive business and it's a business. It's not a school play. I teach how to act for the camera to make money. They need to ask, what steps do I need to take to make it in the industry? How much training do I need? How do I get a agent or representation? What about headshots and résumé?
