after completing my undergraduate theatre studies and working as a professional actor, writer and singer, I felt the calling to serve in the classroom. I taught speech, theatre and musical theatre for 25 years before pursuing acting full time😇

About the lesson

Every actor is a unique individual. I choose material that highlights each student's strengths and interests and explores each actor's challenges. We can overcome these obstacles together.

I have coached a variety of students from children to adults-- Naturally gifted to those who simply loved the Arts- including successful students with special needs. several of my past students are enjoying great success as working actors, writers and producers in New York and worldwide. At this exact moment I have a student auditioning for his CALLBACK for Broadway's Dear Evan Hansen and the upcoming tour of Hamilton in lead roles!❤️

Perfect! Barry is an excellent teacher. I've had previous coaches that were very intimidating which in the world of acting makes things VERY difficult.

Luckily, Barry is a very kind and down to earth man. However, he isn't so kind that he just praises you no matter what. Barry is very honest in his critiques and gives clear instructions when needed. His prices for lessons are also fantastic!

I've only taken a few lessons with Barry so far, but I have learned so much already and am always eagerly looking forward to our next lesson together!

Barry is like an Actor’s genie, only I didn’t have to vocalize my wishes. He instinctively knew what I needed. He took a nontraditional approach and really mixed things up for me and that was what I needed to get out of my head. I appreciate his open and relaxed atmosphere — it allows for the actor to be open and relaxed (which is crucial). It’s obvious Barry knows his stuff, but he does not do things from the obvious vantage point... Barry can see beyond the obvious and help connect you with the character’s simplest human motivation. I’m grateful. He brought the fun back for me. Magical!!!
