About Stacey

Since 1991, Porkchop Productions has toured the southeast, bringing performances, residencies, and workshops to schools, libraries and arts organizations. Our goal in theatre instruction is to help students students grow and succeed, while discovering their inner potential, through self discovery and confidence building in the theatre arts.

With focuses in intro to theatre, character development, improvisation, creative movement, play writing, monologue and scene coaching, voice and diction, stage makeup, creating a Foley sound studio, beginning juggling, public speaking, interview skills and more, there is something for everyone ages five and beyond!

Stacey Maxwell is the owner and Artistic Director of Porkchop Productions. She holds a BA in Speech/Drama with an emphasis in Children's Theatre.

Porkchop Productions received the Career Achievement Award from Columbia College, as well as the Distinguished Alumni Award from The Lost Colony Outdoor Drama.

I began teaching through the Artist in Residency program through the South Carolina Arts Commission. I have designed and implemented after school theatre classes, developed summer theatre camps and workshops, and have served as a long-term teaching artist in residence in public and private schools in three states.

BA in Speech/Drama with an emphasis in Children's Theatre from Columbia College

A minor in Percussion Performance

Over 30 years experience, on stage and in the classroom, performing and teaching theatre arts.

Twelve years of dance, with a focus in musical theatre choreography

Five years of voice and diction training

Author of over fifty original plays that have been produced and performed by theatre companies and schools.

About the lesson

First and foremost, making them feel at ease. Engage in conversation to discover their primary focus and what they want to achieve out of their instruction. Ascertain their strengths and weaknesses, and set goals for them to accomplish during their instructional process.

All types! While my main focus is theatre for elementary grades, I have taught at all grade levels, as well as for college students and adults.

The experience of my students vary, from beginner to advanced, and I design my classes based on their skill set.

I have also worked extensively with students on the autism spectrum, as well as students with physical disabilities.

Never be afraid to step outside the box! You have to learn to think as your character, and be willing to step outside your "comfort zone". Once you allow yourself to let go of inhibitions, your abilities are unlimited!

One of my long time, after-school students recently started his own professional children's theatre company in NYC. His productions have gotten rave reviews, and he was recently featured in an article in Broadway World.

Another former student is working professionally with the renowned Goodman Theater in Chicago.

Details

One-on-one classes are offered one hour a week for 8 to 12 weeks (depending on the subject of the class) at a fee of $35 per session hour.

Group classes are offered one hour a week for 8-12 weeks (depending on the subject of the class) at a fee of $20 per session hour for up to 10 students at a time.
