About Kristel

I graduated from the University of St Andrews with an MA (Hons) German and Russian with a Distinction in Spoken German in 2019 and am now pursuing a career as a professional opera singer, having recently graduated from the David Seligman Opera School at the RWCMD in Cardiff. I'm currently working online for a language school in Switzerland where I prepare students for language exams for visa purposes as well as professionals who need to improve their language skills for work reasons. I have experience teaching adult learners and children (GCSE and A-Level): My students' profiles include: - those aiming for an A* and Oxbridge studies and need to be challenged more than what their school can offer them - those who struggle either with the language itself or with other special needs such as concentration issues or dyslexia - those learning the target language to better communicate with their partner who is a native speaker of this language - those preparing for naturalisation tests

This encourages faster progress and is what I love about tutoring 1-to-1. Having previously worked as a substitute teacher in various subjects for students aged 6-16, I am able to adapt my teaching style to the particular student's and subject's requirements. Personally, I believe that a thorough understanding of grammar combined with oral communication practice is key to language acquisition.

The trial lesson with David was a pleasure. He is very interested in language acquisition methods and seems very fast at picking up on both the grammar and pronunciation of Danish. He’s learning Russian at the moment too, which usually requires a slightly different approach due to how different Russian grammar is from Danish grammar.
