Experienced radio presenter offers online Persian language (Farsi) classes at all levels.

I’ve had Reza Jan as a tutor for the past two years, and it has genuinely been such a joy learning Farsi with him.

Whilst many tutors may naturally have a strong knowledge of Farsi, what makes Reza exceptional is the thought and structure he puts into actually teaching the language. His lessons are carefully organised, and the effort he makes to help you steadily build your vocabulary and become more confident in using the language is something I’ve found quite uncommon. You always feel that he is thinking about how best to help you improve, rather than simply working through a standard lesson.

Just as importantly, Reza is a genuinely lovely person. He is incredibly patient, kind and encouraging, and creates an environment where learning feels enjoyable rather than intimidating. Over the past two years, I’ve not only improved my Farsi considerably, but have really looked forward to our lessons.

I couldn’t recommend Reza highly enough to anyone looking to learn Farsi!

I took Persian lessons with Reza for 2 years. He is a very dedicated teacher and we’ve been keeping in touch ever since.
Reza knows the Persian language (spoken and written) and Persian literature and culture very well. This makes him a teacher capable of introducing the basics but also of accompanying his students to a very advanced level.
Reza is a voice professional; I particularly appreciated being able to discover thanks to him the different language levels of modern Persian and the pronunciation variants. Being able to converse with a true witness to today’s Iranian every day life is also invaluable.
Thanks for everything Reza!

Bonjour Reza, je suis allé sur le site avec l'adresse universitaire mais je ne sais pas comment et où mettre la recommandation. Sous ton nom, il n'y a pas de fenêtre où déposer le texte. Saurais-tu quelle est la marche à suivre ? J'ai écrit :
Having studied some Persian a few years ago, I decided to take an accelerated course and turned to Réza. Since we have been working together, I have been completely satisfied with the pedagogical and personal qualities he brings to his lessons. We meet twice a week, and by providing me with the appropriate texts and audio documents, he has been able to get me back on track straight away... We work on a method completely written in Persian, which aims above all to get people thinking in the language. Réza's morphological and syntactic explanations are always invaluable, as they are rooted in a living Iran, as traditional as it is contemporary; they are regularly peppered with phraseological indications or cultural details of all kinds, giving the student the possibility of visualizing a whole nebula of related notions around the subject studied by analogical means.

Réza is sensitive to language levels, and constantly demonstrates the difference between everyday conversation and the sustained tone of literary writing. Under his gentle guidance, I can work for several hours a day, knowing that I'm being supported and monitored as I progress. When I encounter difficulties, I systematically draw up lists of questions which I submit to him at the start of the lesson... The sessions are neither routine nor repetitive, as they are always full of surprises. I find myself confronted with a text to decipher, a description of an image to improvise, an audio text to understand and translate, etc.: all this follows the broad outlines of a controlled didactic approach that forces the student to search within themselves for their own language resources. The teacher corrects inaccuracies and errors, rectifies pronunciation, suggests alternative formulations, writes down in Persian all the expressions to remember…

We also study Persian poetry, and Réza teaches meter and scansion. He shows us how to read a poem by marking the accents, respecting long and short syllables, and eliding certain letters, just as a professional reader would. It is very exciting because the poetic corpus is a treasure trove of words that modern Persian has preserved and that can sometimes be reused in conversation. It is rare in a private course to study a subject in the same way as one would with a specialist in a university.

Réza is therefore an ideal teacher: affable, courteous, ultra-competent, always benevolent, warm and attentive. As a university lecturer myself, I'm well aware of the expectations of those who learn, so I can only admire this outstanding colleague for his great professionalism.

Reza is kind, adaptable and a very good teacher. Learning persian with him is a real pleasure as he's always willing to be helpful. His classes are very interesting and well organized. I 100% recommend him for sure!

Reza is my teacher in persian since almost a year now. We see each other once a week. Reza is very reliable and make himself available and flexible to my scheduele. He is very pedagogic, and knows how to teach me the steps toward persian speaking, reading and writing. He is patient and very kind, so I would warmly recommend him as a teacher.
