About Chev

I have 21 years of experience and have taught levels from total beginner to advanced players, preparing many students for ABRSM exams (up to Grade 8). I am creative and always encourage learners to write their own music and songs.

About the lesson

You will learn to read notation, explore rhythms and even write your own pieces of music (to link theory with practice) making each lesson enjoyable. Choice of musical styles from contemporary piano to traditional classics, and a little jazz, blues or pop. For younger children we start with short songs, exercises, musical games etc.

Perfect! I took piano lessons for a short time with Chev, returning to the piano after a long break. Chev helped me to re-learn aspects of musical theory and think about how to break down my approach to learning new pieces. She really helped with my sight-reading. She had a patient and encouraging approach, helping to motivate me to work towards Grade 8 again, which I hope to take in the future when I have more time.
