About Amy
I have a Ph.D. in cultural studied, an ESL certificate (CELTA) and have worked with people, age 12 to adult improve their English communications. (I have taught students from beginner level to advanced.) I have taught in universities and international schools and have worked with migrants and newcomers to Australia. I also have 10 years' tutoring experience. I am a volunteer ESL teacher with Peace Brigades International, working with an activist in West Papua. My specialties are academic English, public speaking and accent reduction. Most important? I love to teach.

I base my lessons on what the student needs. I want the student to be COMFORTABLE learning and will take my cues from my students. I feel it is important to push a student to an extent that the student is challenged, but not to such an extent that the student feels threatened. The most important thing I can do is to NOT speak, and let the student do the speaking.
