About Anshu

I am an experienced maths teacher with over 13 years of specialist mathematics teaching experience across various countries. In the UK, I have been teaching secondary school students for the last 6 years. I enjoy dealing with the variety of expectations from every individual pupil and alter my teaching style to best suit the learner profile. I have always been a brilliant student with excellent academic scores across all educational qualifications. I hold an MSc in Mathematics and BA in Mathematics (2nd rank in the entire university). Lessons are conducted in person at my home in Shinfield, Reading

About the lesson

The teachers I have had who stand out in my memory have some attributes in common: they presented their subjects in a way that caught my interest, clarified difficult topics and led me through complex areas, and put knowledge into context so that its relevance was apparent. These role models have influenced my approach to teaching: I view myself primarily as a facilitator of learning, rather than as an expert who simply delivers information to students. All human beings, especially children, are inquisitive by nature. I believe that as teachers it is our responsibility to give a direction to this inquisitiveness in a structured and facilitative manner. As teachers, we should encourage seeking answers from students and be always prepared for a two-way dialogue. I believe in creating an open and two-way discussion and learning environment to effectively engage all students. This not only aids learning but also makes it fun. I quickly develop an excellent rapport with students, staff members and parents to promote a friendly and supportive school community. Personal contact with students is essential to my approach. Many need encouragement to talk to their teachers, so I emphasise my availability for informal discussion and my willingness to help them sort out any problems they have with what they are learning.
