About Brian

I've been a classroom teacher for 25 years, and have designed highly successful courses in a variety of subjects, including teaching methodologies, instructional theory and practice, and research methods for university and graduate level students. My style as a teacher is about uncovering how each student learns and working with them to develop tricks, strategies, routines that support them in being successful in a way that is uniquely theirs. I teach students how to communicate well in the formal style of academic writing, but the way we do that together is not so much about ME telling THEM to do it THIS WAY. It's more about THEM telling ME what they need so that we figure out AN EFFECTIVE WAY to approach their work.

About the lesson

I teach real-world skills with lessons designed with my students' needs in mind. I work regularly with non-professional academics and divergent learners, many of whom find the work of research intimidating. There are many ways to create quality research products, though, and I take the time to find what works for you and your needs. My goal is to see my students empowered to produce quality research because they realise that, with the right tools and support, they can share something important with the world. My lessons are designed for students in university at any level and last up to one hour.

He was my Spanish teacher during high school.
His style is highly engaging, pulling in props and storytelling to help concepts stick. Laying out the rules of the language clearly and memorably was also a strong point of his lessons. He goes above and beyond to connect with and make learning accessible and fun. His lessons are planned in ways that are well-rounded and enjoyable to attend. He also cares for his students deeply and tries to make sure they are getting what they need to succeed.
