About Premila

Bonjour! I’m Premila, a warm, patient, and supportive French tutor based in Kitchener, Ontario.

Originally from Mauritius, French has been part of my daily life, education, and communication from an early age. As a former teacher and experienced tutor, I enjoy helping students from different backgrounds improve their French, build confidence, and make steady progress toward their individual goals.

I work with children, teens, and adults, from complete beginners to intermediate and advanced learners. Whether you are learning French for school, work, immigration, travel, conversation, or personal growth, lessons are adapted to your level, learning style, pace, and goals.

I also provide TEF Canada preparation, with support in speaking, listening, reading, and writing to help students become more confident and better prepared for the exam.

I understand that learning a new language can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to speaking. My goal is to create a calm, encouraging, and judgment-free learning environment where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, practicing, and improving step by step.

I offer online French lessons as well as in-person lessons in Kitchener, with a quiet and welcoming study space available at my location.

Whether you're starting French for the first time, looking to strengthen your existing skills, or preparing for TEF Canada, I would be happy to support you on your French-learning journey.

About the lesson

My French lessons are personalized, practical, and designed to help you build confidence while making steady progress toward your individual goals.

Every student learns differently, so I adapt each lesson to your level, goals, learning style, and pace. Whether you are learning French for school, everyday communication, work, travel, personal growth, or preparing for TEF Canada, our lessons will focus on the areas where you need the most support.

A typical lesson may include:

• A short review of previous learning and any questions you may have
• A clear, simple explanation of a new concept
• Grammar and vocabulary practice using practical examples
• Speaking and pronunciation practice
• Listening, reading, and writing activities
• Real-life conversation to develop fluency and confidence
• Guided exercises followed by corrections and explanations
• Review of areas that need additional practice

For school-age students, lessons can also include French homework support, help understanding classroom material, and additional practice based on their individual needs.

For TEF Canada students, lessons can focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing, with guided practice, exam-style activities, strategies, corrections, and targeted support in areas that need improvement.

My teaching approach is patient, structured, and encouraging. I don't expect every student to learn in the same way or at the same speed. If something isn't clear, I am happy to explain it differently and practise it with you until you feel more comfortable.

Most importantly, I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Learning French should be motivating and enjoyable, not stressful or intimidating.

My goal is for you to leave each lesson understanding something better, feeling more confident, and knowing what your next step is.

Perfect! I would definitely recommend Premila. She has plenty of resources and really helped focus on what I needed to learn. I had a tricky timeline but she made sure we got enough lessons in and was very accommodating.

All in all Premila is very knowledgeable and really great to work with.
