Ciara is an incredibly committed individual and as can be seen from her academic qualifications has achieved at the highest level throughout her academic career. She has demonstrated her interest and dedication to the process of learning and teaching repeatedly over the years. Supplementing her experience and income when a student by working as a volunteer classroom assistant in music classrooms, giving instrumental instruction and for a number of years teaching English as a second language, at all times receiving the highest of praise from her students in this work. It's to her credit that while pursuing her academic qualifications, she attained additional qualifications in Instrumental Instruction and ESOL to carry out these roles. Her work as a tutor at Edinburgh University during her PHD was highly regarded both by the department and her students, as she delivered aspects of the undergraduate course, teaching, assessing and advising on student work. She has built on this experience by providing advice on academic writing to undergraduate students through the US based "Upswing" programme. Ciara demonstrates a deep understanding of the processes involved in academic writing to produce an efficient and effective product and has a gift for delivering insightful comments on the work placed in front of her, but more than this, she delivers her comment in a caring and nurturing way which allows the recipient to receive the information and respond to it confidently and effectively.
