An experienced ESL Teacher of three years offering ESL classes alongside KS1 / KS2 English and Maths.

Emily and I met at a preparatory school where she quickly became a valued and respected member of the team. She quickly took on a variety of responsibilities, whilst showing much initiative and flexibility in the busy school environment. Her work ethic and determination have never failed to impress me. Emily’s friendly yet strong manner allows her to be approachable as well as firm when needed to manage a classroom in a professional way. She has a natural ability to connect to others and build relationships not only with other members of staff but more importantly her students. I have known Emily to always approach the children with kind patience and each at their individual level. Furthermore, her caring interactions and creativity with the children and her attentiveness were valued by all. Emily has always been passionate about teaching, which comes so naturally to her; she continues to strive to provide creative and fun lessons that will get everyone involved and interested.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Emily for a number of years, and seen her develop her love for teaching and children’s development throughout this time. Her time teaching abroad in Hong Kong and Southern Korea and commitment she made to excelling in her roles, being promoted to teacher and team leader respectively, is impressive enough in itself, but even more impressive in the context of her pursuit of additional formal qualifications through the Open University at the same time.
Emily speaks fondly of the children she has worked with over the years, both as a teacher and a carer, and judging by the number of cards she has received from them when leaving roles this feeling is most definitely reciprocated. I find that Emily is a truly active listener, and she uses this skill to really understand and read the people she is around which makes her truly insightful as to how to get the best out of those she is around.
