About Arlene
My name is Arlene L. Echavez, a Licensed Professional Teacher from the Philippines. I have 23 years of teaching experience, including more than five years as an online ESL teacher teaching both children and adults. I also work as a Junior High School English teacher in a public school. I hold TEFL, TESOL, and TEYL certifications, which have strengthened my ability to teach English and Tagalog effectively to learners from different cultural backgrounds. I enjoy creating engaging lessons that help students become confident English speakers."

I use the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach to encourage students to use English confidently in real-life situations. For young learners, I incorporate Total Physical Response (TPR), guided practice, role-playing, repetition, and interactive questioning to make lessons engaging and effective. I believe students learn best when they actively participate in class through meaningful communication and hands-on activities.
To keep students engaged in online classes, I maintain eye contact through the camera, use expressive facial expressions and gestures, ask thought-provoking questions, and encourage students to speak as much as possible. I also incorporate interactive teaching materials such as flashcards, games, visual presentations, and other multimedia resources to create a fun, dynamic, and student-centered learning environment.
