About Latia

Hello! My name is Latia, and I am an experienced English, ESL, and Special Education educator with several years of experience working with students from elementary through high school levels. I am passionate about helping students strengthen their reading, writing, grammar, comprehension, and communication skills while building the confidence they need to succeed academically.

Throughout my career, I have taught in both the United States and internationally, giving me experience working with students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds. I specialize in creating supportive, student-centered lessons that are engaging, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s unique learning style and goals.

I have experience teaching English Language Arts, literature, essay writing, reading comprehension, grammar, ESL, and academic support skills. I also work well with struggling learners, ESL students, Special Education students, and students who simply need additional guidance and encouragement to reach their full potential.

As an educator and graduate student, I believe learning should feel approachable, motivating, and personalized. My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them become more confident, independent learners over time.

I pride myself on being patient, professional, adaptable, organized, and genuinely invested in student growth and success. I look forward to helping students build stronger skills, confidence, and a greater love for learning.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is centered around patience, adaptability, encouragement, and building student confidence. I understand that every student learns differently, so I tailor lessons to fit each learner’s individual needs, learning style, pace, and academic goals. I strive to create a supportive and comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions, practicing skills, and growing academically without fear of judgment.

I specialize in English Language Arts, ESL, reading comprehension, grammar, writing, literature, essay development, and academic support skills. I have experience teaching and tutoring students from elementary through high school, including ESL learners, Special Education students, struggling readers and writers, and students seeking to strengthen their academic performance overall.

A typical lesson may include reviewing previous skills, guided instruction, interactive practice, reading or writing activities, grammar support, vocabulary development, essay planning, and personalized feedback. I also focus heavily on improving comprehension, communication, organization, and critical thinking skills so students can apply what they learn independently both inside and outside of the classroom.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my diverse educational background, international teaching experience, ability to work with students of varying learning levels, and my creative, student-centered teaching style. In addition to years of classroom experience, I continuously expand my knowledge through graduate studies, educational technology, and AI-based learning tools to help make lessons engaging, modern, and effective.

My lessons are ideal for elementary, middle school, high school, ESL, Special Education, and college-preparation students who need support in reading, writing, literature, grammar, essays, communication skills, or overall academic confidence.
