About Vern
With over three decades in education, including serving as a teacher, coach, and school principal, I bring a high level of professionalism, consistency, and care to every tutoring session. I have worked with students across a wide range of abilities and understand how to create a structured, supportive environment where they can succeed.
Parents can expect clear communication, reliability, and a strong commitment to their child’s progress. I approach each session prepared, organized, and focused on measurable improvement. My background in school leadership has also given me extensive experience working with families, setting goals, and helping students stay accountable.

I bring over 30 years of experience in education as a classroom teacher, coach, and school principal, and I understand that every student learns differently. My goal as a tutor is not just to help students get the right answers, but to build confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and develop a positive attitude toward math.
My Teaching Approach
I use a clear, structured, and patient approach to teaching elementary math. I break concepts down into simple, manageable steps and ensure students fully understand each part before moving on. I emphasize:
Strong number sense and fundamentals
Repetition with purpose (practice that builds confidence, not frustration)
Real-world examples to make math relatable
Encouragement and positive reinforcement
