About Tom

Hello, everyone. My name is Tom. I'm an experienced Cello teacher.
In my classes, I will teach you from the basics of holding the cello bow, having a
proper cello posture, reading sheet music, and learning how to practice on your own

Playing beautiful and advanced pieces on the cello, interpretations, quickly solving passages, and incorporating the cello with a physical sense of comfort.

In my classes, I can guarantee major improvement in just a couple of months with regular lessons twice per week

If you are interested in working with me, feel free to book a trial class with me

About the lesson

The teaching material depends on what level of performance they are currently playing. If they are college level/advanced or beginners/children, do not worry I am used to working with children. From my experience working as a substitute teacher, I have a gentle approach with children and my main focus is for them to learn to enjoy playing the cello and to love music. The cello teaching schools for beginners will be using will be the Suzuki method. Different materials depend on advanced. I also work with adult students and beginners.

Perfect! Tom was fantastic! He did a great job at explaining things so that my daughter understood them and demonstrated all of the exercises he was explaining on camera so that she could understand them. He was very kind and encouraging and positive. We are scheduled with a few other tutors, but Tom is definitely in the running to become my daughter’s teacher. We really liked him!

Perfect! My first lesson with Tom covered holding the bow, and switching left hand positions. He was very thorough and explained it very clearly. I really appreciated his excitement afree explaining these techniques and seeing my progress just in the first lesson.

Perfect! Tom was OUTSTANDING. First, he wanted to learn more about my background and what brought me to the cello. Then he began by explaining some of the basics of playing the cello and, even thought my cello is on order and won't be available until this evening, he found creative ways to demonstrate the concepts he was proposing without the use of a live cello.

He answered my questions thoroughly, and even provided other resources to help me explore the issues I raised more thoroughly.

Tom's teaching style is one that incorporate a great deal of mobility. He stood up, sat down, and moved around with and without the cello to demonstrates the points he was raising. I doubt that I'd get sleepy during a lesson with him!

Although I am considering several teachers at the moment, Tom ranks among the highest if not THE highest in my consideration at this point.

My 9 year old son loves lessons with Tom. He is very patient, clear when giving an explanation and makes lessons interesting. Song choice is always great and appealing, making learning for beginners very rewarding. Lessons are well organized and easy to follow. Plenty of time slots to choose from even though we are divided by 5 hours time difference. I highly recommend learning with Tom
