About Cathlyn-Mae
I am a Kumon Mathematics Assistant, a licensed Architect with six years of professional experience, and a current Master’s student at the Auckland Institute of Studies. I teach because I enjoy helping students build strong foundations, gain confidence, and discover that math can be clear and manageable with the right guidance. My goal is to support each learner at their own pace while providing a structured, professional, and encouraging learning environment.

I teach mathematics using a structured, step‑by‑step approach that builds confidence and mastery. My methodology combines Kumon‑style practice for strong foundational skills with clear explanations, real‑world examples, and guided problem‑solving. I focus on helping students understand why concepts work, not just how to answer them, so they develop long‑term mathematical thinking.
A typical lesson runs for 45–60 minutes, depending on the student’s age and learning needs. Each session includes a quick skills check, a focused teaching segment, and targeted exercises to reinforce understanding. I adjust the pace to suit each learner and provide strategies that make maths feel manageable and even enjoyable.
I currently work as a Kumon Mathematics Assistant, supporting students with arithmetic, algebra, and problem‑solving. Professionally, I am an Architect with six years of experience, which strengthens my ability to teach maths through practical, real‑life applications. I am also pursuing my Master’s degree at the Auckland Institute of Studies, which keeps my academic skills sharp and my teaching approach up to date.
