About Damien
I have recently taken up tutoring, having previously undertaken numerous teaching roles and posts in the Higher Education sector. For instance, during my PhD (2003-2007), two Post-Doctoral positions (2007-2008), Teaching Fellowship (2008-2009), Research Fellowship (2009-2004), and Lectureship (2014-2019) I have taught small (approx. 6) upto large (150+) groups at undergraduate and postgraduate level at a number of universities in the UK (i.e. Bristol, St Andrews, and Dundee) and Europe (i.e. Ghent). I have also supervised undergraduate, masters, and doctoral projects to successful completion. Moreover, I have provided pastoral care at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
I have taught and supervised on programmes that cover psychology (including postgraduate health psychology), public health, global health, behavioural science, medical ethics, and research methods.
Finally, I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

My approach to education adopts a “pedagogy of collegiality” which aims to overcome the traditional teacher-learner relationship, thereby empowering the learner to shape the teaching session to best suit their learning preference. Consequently, while I enter a teaching session with a plan, I am willing to be flexible in its implementation, in order to suit the needs of the learner.
During the free first class we will discuss and develop a plan for future classes to include likely topics and learning preferences.

In order to cover any travel expenses when travelling by car to a students home or mutually convenient location I will charge 45p per mile. This will be based on the shortest possible route according to Google maps.
