About Mike
After a long career in professional services including a period living and working in Australia, I have returned to the UK with my family and I am now applying my skills and experience in an educational context for individuals and teams seeking to develop English Language for personal and career advancement. I completed an intensive face-to-face teacher training programme with International House London leading to the Cambridge CELTA - Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. As part of this training I completed written assignments covering learner-needs analysis, language analysis, skills and teaching techniques and self-reflection. I also prepared and delivered assessed teaching to pre and upper-intermediate level multi-lingual learner groups. I have subsequently delivered classes at Language School Camps in both the UK and Internationally and also tutored individual students on a one-to-one basis.
Throughout my career I have extensive people leadership experience incorporating objective setting; alignment of skills and experience with business requirements; completion of learning and development needs; appraisal and performance reviews. I have strong business background with a Chartered Accountancy qualification and am known as a high trust professional who leads with integrity and a focus on developing others.

Tutoring is informed by an agreed summary of learner specific needs and tailored to individual preferred learning styles. Materials and approach will draw upon published coursebooks appropriate to level and prior teaching and learning experience. Lessons are aimed at both adult and younger learners and will typically be online of 40 minutes duration by agreement.
