About Hope

I love helping students discover the joy in learning, build confidence, and achieve more than they thought possible. Nothing feels better than seeing a student surpass their own expectations and develop a love for reading, writing, and history. My lessons are interactive and personalised. I bring creativity and positivity into every session, connecting with students through discussions, writing exercises, and activities that make the curriculum come alive. By making lessons engaging, I help students retain knowledge, think critically, and feel motivated to improve. I work with students of all ages, offering support in essay writing, exam preparation, creative writing, close reading, and English literature.

About the lesson

Hello! I’m an experienced tutor offering lessons in English and History for primary and secondary students. I have an undergraduate degree in English & History and a Master’s in English & Creative Writing from the University of Edinburgh, with several years of tutoring experience. I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to your child’s needs, goals, and learning style. My approach combines: Structured guidance for essay planning, exam preparation, and source analysis Interactive techniques such as discussion, annotation, and practice questions Feedback and reflection on writing or assignments to reinforce learning Confidence-building strategies to help students feel motivated and engaged I encourage questions, active participation, and independent thinking while providing the support students need to excel. Lessons usually last 1 hour, but I can offer longer sessions or block bookings depending on your child’s needs. Each session includes teaching, practice, and discussion, plus personalised resources and feedback outside the lesson. I work with primary and secondary students, including those preparing for: National 5 & Higher English and History Essay writing, creative writing, and reading comprehension Literacy support for younger learners I am proud to provide: - Personalised lesson planning - Marking & feedback on work between sessions - Exam-style practice and resources tailored to your child I’m friendly, patient, and committed to helping students build confidence, improve skills, and achieve their goals.
