About Clare

As a fully qualified primary school teacher with a PGCE and 14 years of classroom experience, I am passionate about helping children develop their English language skills and reach their full potential.

I am a graduate in French and Spanish and have lived and worked in both Spain and Italy. Having experienced life in other countries and learnt other languages, I understand some of the challenges children can face when learning a new language. This experience allows me to bring additional understanding, empathy and encouragement to my teaching.

I am particularly well placed to support children whose first language is French, Spanish or Italian as they develop their English skills, build confidence and settle into learning in an English-speaking environment.

My extensive experience teaching across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 has given me a strong understanding of how children learn and develop. I draw on this knowledge to create engaging, supportive lessons suited to each child's individual needs, age and ability.

About the lesson

My Tutoring Approach
Every child learns differently, and every lesson is designed with them in mind.
I create bespoke, interactive lessons that make learning English enjoyable, accessible and effective. Lessons can be tailored to focus on:
• Speaking and listening: Developing conversational English, pronunciation and understanding.
• Reading: Building vocabulary, comprehension and reading fluency.
• Writing: Developing sentence structure, grammar, spelling and written expression.
• Vocabulary and grammar: Strengthening the foundations needed to communicate confidently.
• Confidence building: Creating a positive, relaxed environment where children feel comfortable practising, making mistakes and progressing at their own pace.

Whether your child is just beginning their English language journey, adapting to a new school or country, or looking to improve their fluency and academic English, I will tailor each session to their individual goals and learning style.

My aim is to help every child feel comfortable, confident and motivated as they develop their English language skills.
