About Andrew
I enjoy teaching maths and physics. I like the feeling of satisfaction that comes with mastering these subjects and being able to make connections between the different topics within the subject. I find it very rewarding to have given a good lesson where I have taught well and the student has learned and made progress and grown in confidence. I'd like to pass these same things on to my students so that they also have the same sense of achievement and self-confidence, which will naturally overflow into other areas of their lives. When you get feedback such as, 'You have changed my daughter's life.' it makes teaching very worthwhile.

I aim to share your goals and teach in a way that enables you to think about the subject rather than just memorising it. I aim to enable you to know how to approach and solve problems so that you are not intimidated by them and can navigate your way through a problem and recognise mistakes and self-correct. I will equip you with problem-solving methods that I used successfully all the way through my Mechanical Engineering Degree. I aim to enable you to become an independent learner which will equip you for your whole life, especially if you too go on to higher education. I taught in an independent school for 10 years before moving into personal tutoring, which I have practised now for 13 years. Tutoring sessions are normally one hour in length and are for anyone studying GCSEs whether adult or Key Stage 3. My teaching qualification is PG Cert Ed (Post compulsory) but as a private tutor, I can teach anyone of any age and in fact, the majority of my students have been school pupils. I am a very calm person and believe that a calm and gentle approach is necessary to replace the fear that many people have of maths and science, which is a major block to learning.
